Bai Hao Oolong is commonly known as Oriental Beauty and one of Taiwan’s prized teas because of its unique flavour and aroma. Once you have tried a true Taiwanese Bai Hao Oolong, you will understand why this beautiful tea fetches high market dollar. Not surprisingly there are many non-authentic Bai Hao on the market cashing in on this market favourite. So, it is incredibly important to trust your supplier of this exquisite tea.
It is picked during summer after the “green leafhopper” has visited the tea garden of the Qing Xin Dah Pan tea plant. Carefully oxidised to 65% with a light bake to stabilize the tea. A quality Bai Hao must display the 5 colours – black, red, brown, green and white in the dry leaf. 2018 has been a dry year with a low yield, we are lucky to secure this limited amount of a quality Oolong with the classic honey aroma with a rich ripe fruit flavour that has a lingering long finish.
Legend says that a farmer decided to take his tea to market after the “green leafhopper” had been to his garden. The customers loved it so much that he was able to sell all his tea… not surprisingly it is also called Bragger’s Tea.
