Description
Ruby 18 is a popular cultivar with tea farmers of Taiwan. The thicker tea leaves allow for greater flexibility in the processing. The Hong Yu 18 cultivar is a recent development from 1999 between Burmese Assamica and Taiwan Wild Tea. The result is a tea that yields a unique and distinctive menthol/minty aroma and flavour that is elegantly balanced with the sweet fruity notes of a red oolong. It can be served hot or room temperature in a wine glass with red meats, rich sauces, mushrooms or chocolate cake.
